Your options
Patch and blend vs. repaint the wall
A small patch can be blended into existing paint if we have the original color and the paint is not too aged. Larger patches, older flat paint, and anything under raking light usually need the full wall painted corner to corner to avoid a visible halo.
Skim coat vs. texture
Most Harford County homes built after the 1980s have an orange-peel or knockdown texture; older in-town homes are smooth plaster. We match what you have. If you want to remove texture, a skim coat is a larger job and quoted separately.
Paint grade and finish
We recommend a washable matte or eggshell for walls, satin or semi-gloss for trim and doors, and a stain-blocking primer over any water stain or repair. You can specify a brand and color; we will tell you if a product will not hold up where you want it.
Before you book
Fix the water source first
We will not close up a water-stained ceiling until the leak is confirmed fixed. If the source is a roof, a plumbing line beyond a fixture, or an unknown, we will tell you what needs to be resolved before the drywall goes back.
Mold and moisture
Small areas of surface mildew on drywall can be cut out and replaced. Extensive mold, or mold inside wall cavities, is remediation work and outside our scope — we will say so if we open the wall and find it.
Drying and cure time
Joint compound needs drying time between coats. A proper patch is usually two or three visits over a few days, or one longer visit with setting-type compound. Rushing it is why patches crack.
Lead paint in older homes
Homes built before 1978 may have lead-based paint. Federal rules (EPA RRP) apply when disturbing painted surfaces in those homes. Tell us the age of the house when you request a quote.

Drywall & Painting — questions we get
Can you match the texture on my walls so the patch is invisible?
Yes. Knockdown, orange peel, and smooth finishes are matched on site before painting. Under bright side light a large patch may still be faintly visible unless the full wall is repainted — we will tell you which case you are in.
How long does a drywall repair take?
A few small patches take a couple of hours of work, but joint compound needs drying time between coats, so plan on two or three short visits or one longer visit using quick-setting compound. Painting is scheduled once the repair is fully dry.
Do you fix ceiling water stains?
Yes, once the leak is fixed. We cut out damaged material, replace it, tape and finish, then prime with a stain-blocking primer before painting so the stain does not bleed through.
Do you paint whole houses or just rooms?
Both. Single rooms and hallways are the most common request; whole-house repaints are scheduled as a multi-day project with a written quote.
Should I buy the paint?
You can, and it is a good idea if you have a specific color. Otherwise we pick it up at cost. We will recommend the right finish for each surface so bathroom walls and trim get a product that holds up.
Can you remove popcorn ceilings?
We patch popcorn ceilings routinely. Full removal is a larger project; ceilings installed before 1980 should be tested for asbestos first, and we will point you to a testing lab before quoting removal.
Do you patch drywall after a plumber or electrician cut access holes?
Yes. That is one of the most common calls we get — the trade fixes the problem and leaves the opening, we close it up, match the texture, and paint.
Is there a minimum for painting?
Our minimum is about one hour of work, which covers small touch-up. Single-room painting is typically a half day or more depending on the prep involved.
