Flooring calls come in two kinds. The first is a repair: a cracked tile in the entry, grout crumbling in a shower, a laminate board that has swollen at the dishwasher, a squeak that has become a soft spot. The second is a room that needs a new floor — most often luxury vinyl plank (LVP) or laminate in a basement, bedroom, or bathroom.

Your options
Luxury vinyl plank vs. laminate vs. tile
LVP is waterproof and the default for basements, kitchens, and baths in Harford County homes. Laminate is harder and better for scratches but not for wet areas. Tile is the most durable and the most labor. We will tell you which fits the room and your budget.
Repair vs. replace the floor
A few damaged planks or tiles can be replaced if you have leftover material or an exact match is still available. If the product is discontinued or the damage is widespread, replacing the room is usually cleaner than a patchwork.
Floating vs. glue-down
Most LVP and laminate floats over an underlayment, which is faster and easier to repair later. Glue-down is used where the floor sees heavy rolling loads or the subfloor makes floating impractical.
Before you book
The subfloor is the job
New flooring will telegraph every dip and soft spot beneath it. We check the subfloor before quoting and include leveling or repair in the estimate rather than discovering it after your floor is delivered.
Basements and moisture
Below-grade slabs in Harford County often carry moisture. We recommend a moisture test and a vapor-rated underlayment for basement floors, and we will not install a product below grade that its manufacturer does not rate for it.
Acclimation and lead time
Flooring needs to sit in the house for a couple of days before installation. Order it, have it delivered, and we schedule the install a few days later.
Matching old tile
Exact matches for tile older than a few years are rarely available. If you have spare tiles from the original install, keep them — that is what makes a repair invisible.

Flooring & Tile — questions we get
Which floor is best for a Harford County basement?
Waterproof luxury vinyl plank over a vapor-rated underlayment is the usual answer. It handles the slab moisture common in this area and survives the occasional wet basement better than laminate or wood.
Can you replace just a few damaged tiles or planks?
Yes, if matching material is available. Keep leftover boxes from any flooring install — that is what makes a repair possible years later.
Do you do full-house flooring?
Our typical projects are single rooms, basements, and bathrooms. Whole-house flooring is quoted as a multi-day project alongside our remodeling work.
Do you supply the flooring or do I buy it?
Most customers choose and buy their own flooring so they control the look and price; we install it. We can also pick up materials at cost if you prefer.
Will you fix a squeaky or soft floor?
Yes. Squeaks are usually fastening; soft spots usually mean water damage to the subfloor. Both are repaired from above by removing the finished floor in that area, or from below where the joists are accessible.
Can you regrout a shower without retiling?
Yes, if the tile is sound and the waterproofing behind it is intact. We remove the old grout, regrout, and replace the caulk at the corners and the tub line. If tiles are loose or the wall behind is soft, that is a rebuild, and we will tell you.
How long does a room take?
A typical bedroom or basement room in LVP is one to two days including removal of the old floor and trim. Tile takes longer because of setting and grouting time.
