Your options
Refresh vs. full remodel
A refresh keeps the layout and replaces surfaces and fixtures — new vanity, tile, paint, lighting. A full remodel moves plumbing or walls and needs licensed trades and more permits. Most Harford County bathrooms from the 1980s–2000s get excellent results from a refresh at a fraction of the cost.
Cabinet painting vs. replacement
Solid-wood cabinet boxes in good shape can be professionally painted with new hardware for far less than replacement. Particleboard boxes that have swollen, or layouts that do not work, are replaced.
Basement: full finish or family room only
Finishing the main open area is the most common first step. Adding a bathroom or a bedroom adds plumbing rough-in, egress requirements, and more inspections. We can phase it.

Unincorporated Harford County issues them through the county's permit office; Bel Air, Aberdeen, and Havre de Grace issue their own inside town limits. Licensed trades for rough-in
Moving plumbing, adding circuits, or adding a bathroom means a licensed master plumber and electrician do the rough-in under permit. We coordinate them; we do not substitute for them.

Basement moisture first
We will not finish a basement that gets water. If there is any history of seepage, that gets solved first — grading, downspout extensions, or a waterproofing contractor — before framing goes up.

Cabinets, vanities, and special-order tile drive the schedule. Kitchens typically run four to eight weeks largely because of cabinet lead times; a hall bath is about two to three weeks once materials are on site.

A standard hall bath refresh runs about two to three weeks from demo to final walkthrough once materials are on site. Layout changes with new plumbing add time for rough-in and inspections.
Do I need a permit to finish my basement in Harford County?
Yes. Basement finishing requires a building permit, plus separate plumbing and electrical permits if you add a bathroom or new circuits. Any basement bedroom needs an egress window. Permits go through the county for most addresses or the town for properties inside Bel Air, Aberdeen, or Havre de Grace. We handle the applications.
How much deposit do you require?
Maryland home improvement law limits the deposit a contractor may collect before work begins. We follow it: a written contract, a deposit within the legal limit, and progress payments tied to milestones.
Can I live in the house during the work?

Do you do the plumbing and electrical yourselves?
Fixture-level work, yes. Moving plumbing or adding circuits is done by licensed master trades under permit, coordinated by us as part of the project.
Can you convert my tub to a walk-in shower?
Yes. It is one of the most common projects we do — removing the tub, waterproofing, tiling, and installing a glass door or curtain. If the drain has to move, a plumber handles that step under permit.
Do you do whole-house renovations or additions?
No. Our projects are single rooms and basements. Additions and whole-house renovations are better served by a larger general contractor, and we will say so.
Who buys the materials?
Either. Many customers choose their own tile, vanity, and fixtures; we specify what is needed and confirm the selections will work before ordering. We can also source materials at cost.
What happens if you find a problem after demo?
You hear about it before we go further. We document it, price the change, and get your approval in writing. Surprises behind walls are normal; surprises on the invoice are not.
