Fixture-level work — faucets, toilets, disposals, fans, lights, switches — done right, with anything bigger referred to a licensed master trade.
This page is about the repair-and-replace end of plumbing and electrical: a kitchen faucet that drips, a toilet that runs, a disposal that hums, a dated light fixture, a ceiling fan for the bedroom, a cracked outlet cover with a loose outlet behind it. It is the work that does not justify a master plumber's or electrician's minimum, but still needs to be done correctly so it does not leak or wobble six months later.
We keep the scope honest. Anything beyond fixture-level work — new circuits, panel changes, re-piping, main water or sewer lines — belongs with a licensed master electrician or master plumber, and we refer it rather than take it.

Your options
Repair the fixture or replace it
A running toilet is usually a fill valve or flapper; a dripping faucet on a quality fixture may be a cartridge. Builder-grade fixtures past ten years are usually better replaced than repaired, and we will tell you which is which.
Your fixture or ours
Most of this work is customer-supplied fixtures — you choose the finish and style. Have the box on site and check it is complete; missing mounting hardware is the most common reason an install stalls. We can also pick up standard fixtures at cost.
Fan-rated box or not
A ceiling fan must hang from a fan-rated electrical box. If the existing box is a standard light box, we replace it as part of the install rather than hang a fan from something not made to hold it.
Before you book
Shut-off valves that will not close
A twenty-year-old shut-off valve that will not seal is why a simple faucet swap turns into a flooded cabinet. We replace tired valves as part of the job; if the main shut-off does not work, that is a plumber's job before we start.
Where the line is
New circuits, panel or service work, adding outlets where none exist, rewiring, main water or sewer lines, water heaters, and gas work are for licensed master electricians and plumbers. Harford County also requires permits for that work. We refer it, every time.
Aluminum wiring and older homes
Some homes from the late 1960s and early 1970s in Edgewood, Joppatowne, and Aberdeen have aluminum branch wiring. If we open a box and find it, we stop and refer you to an electrician, because those connections need specific rated devices and methods.
GFCI protection
Outlets near water — kitchen counters, bathrooms, garages, exteriors — should be GFCI protected. When we replace one of those, we install a GFCI device if there is none upstream.

- 03We show up and do it. We arrive in the scheduled window, protect the work area, and finish the list. Anything unexpected behind a wall is explained and approved before we continue.
- 04Walk it together. We walk the finished work with you, clean up, and haul away the debris. If something is not right, we come back.

- Tell us what the fixture is and send a photo of the existing one and its connections. That is usually enough to quote.
- We shut off water at the fixture, replace tired valves as needed, install, and test for leaks before we leave; for fans and lights we test operation and confirm the box is rated for the load.

What plumbing and electrical work do you not do?
Main water or sewer lines, re-piping, water heaters, gas lines, electrical panel or service work, new circuits, adding outlets where none exist, and rewiring. Those require a licensed master plumber or master electrician and, in Harford County, permits. We refer that work rather than take it.
Can you install a fixture I bought online?
Yes — that is most of what we do. Open the box before the appointment and check the parts list, since missing mounting hardware is the most common delay.
Can you replace a light fixture with a ceiling fan?
Usually, yes. The fan needs a fan-rated box, which we install if the existing box is not rated. If there is no existing ceiling box or switch, that is new wiring and goes to an electrician.
My toilet keeps running. Is that a repair or a replacement?
Usually a fill valve or flapper — a quick repair. If the toilet is old, cracked, or uses a lot of water, replacing it is often the better long-term choice, and we will say which we recommend.
Do you handle garbage disposal replacement?
Yes. We replace like-for-like disposals, including the drain and dishwasher connections. Adding a disposal where there has never been one requires an outlet and a switch, which usually involves an electrician.
Do you offer emergency service for leaks?
No. For an active leak, shut the water off at the fixture or the main and call a 24-hour plumber. We schedule repairs during normal business hours.
Will you replace my shut-off valves while you are there?
Yes, and we recommend it when they are old or stiff. A valve that will not close is the number one cause of a fixture swap turning into a bigger problem.
Are you a licensed plumber or electrician?
No. Panda Handyman is a licensed Maryland home improvement contractor (MHIC #166189). We limit plumbing and electrical work to fixture-level replacement and refer anything beyond that to the appropriate licensed master trade.
